From Katie Mock

I had 1.2: 67-89. I wondered why it seemed Gertrude couldn't relate to Hamlet's depression at all. I personally expected people to suspect cheating before the late Hamlet was dead or something of that sort, but surprisingly everyone seemed to be on Gertrude's side. Although it's sort of unfeeling to tell Hamlet to "cast thy nighted color off" so easily, she may be trying to hide her own feelings. Someone said it's her way of dealing with being a queen vs. being a mother or wife. "Should she be a good mother or a good Queen? Can she be both?"
Think about it.
