Question: Is the King sincere in his intent to relinquish the throne to Hamlet or to keep him next in line to the throne? Does he really love Hamlet?
Empathizing with Hamlet, my peers felt compassion and largely do not believe that Claudius loves Hamlet. An interesting point was brought up, that Hamlet shows leadership qualities by grieving during the length of time allotted for grieving yet Claudius criticizes Hamlet's display of emotion. In criticizing Hamlet Claudius reveals an inability to understand what Hamlet is going through.
